7th (menus and title)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Today it's menus and the title, I've currently made some menus for the game, it would be the world map (sort of menu) and the opening title menu, here they are:

First things first, the actual title:




As you can see I've made the Tyranny in different this symbolises different metals and gems: gold, sapphire, emerald, ruby, silver, pearl and bronze. The England is however done in the English flag. There is also the evil crown and a cape both from the evil king.


The title menu is next:

As you can see it's a very simple but effective design the buttons are clearly shown and are labelled clearly.















And now here's the map:

As you can see all the locations that the player will be able to access have been labelled on the map, and the map is in the shape of just England.

6th (landscapes)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Today it's landscapes, for the game I have chosen five landscapes around England, these will be the playable locations and will be in the background as the player goes through the levels, the first one is the Lake district:

In the first level as you can see you will be in the mountains, also, if you look closely  the background starts and ends at the same level, making it possible for me to loop it in the background.

The next one is Yorkshire:

Again as you'll see all the backgrounds can be looped.




The next one is Blackpool:


With this background I experimented in making it a bit darker by adding the seagull offering totem, I also tried landmarks, the Blackpool tower didn't go as well as I hoped but it was a start.

The next one is Manchester:

With this background I tried landmarks again, the football stadium went as well as Blackpool tower but the city hall went really well.


And the last one for now is London:

I finally tried even more landmarks and found they turned out really good, as you can see I've also added some grime on the bottom as that is the walls next to the river Thames and under the kings reign it is just left to grow.

5th Entry (weapons)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Today I'm uploading information on the weapons that will be used in the game, the main cannon fodder of the game will have weapons in there hands, along with the boss
The first weapon will be the baton for the police enemy, then the briefcase for the business man and a frying pan for the fish & chips chief:








As you can see the weapons fit the characters holding them as police use batons, chiefs use frying pans etc.












The boss will have a sceptre that will change with him when he changes between 1st, 2nd and 3rd stage, it starts of as a white sceptre, which is clean and white, then to a golden colour sceptre with flames coming off and finally the final sceptre depicts the kings evil as it is black with red horns.

























The player won't have a weapon but if they kill an enemy with one they will be able to pick up the weapon and use it.

4th Entry (boss fight)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Now today I'm uploading information about the boss fights, at the end of the game, the player will have to fight the tyrannic king, this boss fight will be in three stages, each increasing difficulty I have created the sprites for these:
The first stage will be this:





As you can see he has the robe, a crown and the classic colours of a king,











After taking so much damage the king will change to the second stage which is:





In this image the crown has changed from a white colour to a gold colour and the robe has been removed,










Again after taking even more damage the king will change again to:






In this image you can see most of his clothes have been removed and the crown has turned black















When this boss is finished the game will end and the conclusion will happen, then the credits will roll.

3rd Entry (Item/ currency)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Today I'm going to upload some currency items that will be available in the game, I only have one type of item for currency but three different versions, here they are:
The purple at the bottom is the "obsidian gem" and is worth 5 coins
The blue gem in the middle is the " Turquise gem" and is worth 10 coins
The red gem in the middle is the "fire gem" and is worth 20 coins
In the game these items will be called gems and provide the player with currency which will allow the player to buy upgades, and items that will help the player progress through the game. I need more ideas though for varying currency.

I know it's only a small but it's a start, this is the end of the 3rd entry, I'll post soon, bye

2nd Entry (Enemies)

Hello again, I'm back with another update for my college assessment 'Tyranny England'. As I said in the previous post, Tyranny England is a college assessment where I have to make assets for a game based in/ about England.
Today I'm going to upload the enemy cannon fodder, I have made three designs and have ideas for weapons for them, but that will be in a latter post,
First of all, the stances are familiar as they were based of the characters shown previously, but with obvious differences. The first of which is a police officer:





I chose this character as I wanted to give an English feel to the characters, as you will find out with the other enemy characters.










Next we have the fish & chips chief:





I choose to make this character as i wanted a English feel to the game, (being based in England, and about England) and the most iconic food in England  well the most stereotypical one is fish & chips








Lastly for the cannon fodder we have the Business Man:





I made this character for what will be the London level of the game as it is a very popular and businesslike city.

1st Entry

Hey, I'm jack and I'm at Southport College and I've been given an assessment for my graphics class to make some assets for a game made by a company "W.A.Y.N.E" meaning where are you now in England, I choose to make the title "Tyranny England", the story behind this would be an evil king has taken over England and your job is to release the major places in England, the king has taken over the police, fish & chips shops and English businesses. The task we were set was to make assets for a side scroller game showing off the places of England and to promote it.
First I researched different art styles and decided upon pixel art, I found a handy tutorial on the internet showing how to make pixel art characters and soon i had my first character:



(it's a bit low quality due to coming straight off photoshop)













From this character I made a second character, changing a few colours to make him:





As you can see I have changed the colour of the eyes, hair, some clothes and skin.














This is my fist entry for my 'log' and it won't be the last, I'll update soon,
